Sports Injury Prevention Workshop

Objective:

This program is to deliver knowledge and practical skills about sports injuries to student athletes in secondary schools, which can arouse their awareness towards injury treatment and prevention.

Content:

Seminar about sports injuries

  1. Common injuries that student-athletes encounter
    • Sprains
    • Strains
    • Contusions

  2. Areas of body where injuries often occur
    • Ankle
    • Fingers
    • Thigh

  3. What we should do right after injuries
    • P.R.I.C.E. procedure
      • P – Protect
      • R – Rest
      • I – Ice
      • C – Compression
      • E – Elevation

  4. What we should not do right after injuries
    • NO H.A.R.M. principle
      • H – Heat
      • A – Alcohol
      • R – Running
      • M – Massage

  5. Injury prevention strategy
    • Enhance proprioception
    • Improve balance
    • Apply taping
